Assuming some as yet only theoretical major power source for our spacecraft, could we generate artificial gravity by rotating small spheres (presumably made out of some as yet not discovered super strong metal) up to substantial fractions of light speed, thereby increasing their mass and gravity?

Also, if we assume that we have accelerated our spacecraft to its cruising speed before switching on this artificial gravity system, would the increase in mass cause us to slow down if we don't compensate for it?
